Golf stalls at Dayton

The winds came out in full force last Thursday, March 15, driving up the scores for all twelve teams at the Dayton Valley Golf Course and blowing the Wolverine varsity team off their pedestal after their first win at Hawthorne.

Truckee ended the day in the middle of the pack, placing a disappointing sixth behind the day’s winner Manogue, Lowry and Whittell who tied for the second lowest team score, Incline in fourth and North Tahoe in fifth place.

“We were disappointed in our team scores, but an occasional poor showing just reinforces our need to focus and concentrate throughout the entire 18 holes. I expect a much better showing this week at Yerington,” remarked Coach Jeff Froelich.

Jason Waters shot the best round for Truckee with an 88 score and was the only player who shot under 90 for the Wolverines. Following Waters was Mark Lundbeck with a 91, Jarrett Bower with a 96, Kyle Anderson 97, Dave Brooks at 98 for the day and Ryan Stock shot just under three digits with a 99.

The team will try to best last week’s performance today at Yerington.
