Golfers moving up in league standings

The Lady Wolverine golfers are slowing moving up in league standings, thanks to several weeks of practice and competition under their belts. Coach Mike Merriman was encouraged by their sixth-place finish at the Lowry Invitational last Friday, a notable improvement for his new team.

Marissa Allen led the team with a 118 stroke effort – her lowest score all season. Freshman Katy Jones also looked strong with a 128, just ahead of teammate Michelle Harrington who dropped over 40 strokes off her game for a 129 finish.

Rounding out the team scores were Tiffany Schegg with a 130 and new freshman recruit Amy Watkins with a 134 on Lowry’s course.

“Things have not changed as far as what we need to work on,” said Merriman.

The Wolverines will host an open at Northstar tomorrow at 9 a.m. with only two more invitationals remaining before post-season play begins.
