TRUCKEE/TAHOE and#8212; A head-on collision between two Toyota pick-up trucks on State Route 28 in Carnelian Bay on Thursday resulted in the death of one of the drivers, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to a report provided by CHP Sgt. Strecker, at approximately 11:43 a.m. the driver of a Toyota Tacoma traveling westbound at about 40 mph allowed his vehicle to cross over the solid double yellow lines and into incoming traffic just east of Ridgewood Drive.

The Tacoma collided with a Toyota Tundra, which was traveling eastbound at approximately the same speed, according to the report.

The driver of the Tacoma died at the scene of the accident, and the driver of Tundra sustained major injuries and was transported by North Tahoe Fire to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee. Names of those involved have not been released. Both trucks were registered to Tahoe City addresses.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, according to CHP.
