Ten-year-old High Altitude Fitness climber Marina Hendricks is showing the world what it means to be a rock star (pun intended).

The young Tahoe City resident is one of 35 competitors in the nation in the Female Youth D Category who advanced past the Divisional Championship on Jan. 10-11.

With her third-place finish, she earned a chance to represent High Altitude Fitness and her Team Flash at the American Bouldering Series Youth National Competition in Madison, Wisc., from Feb. 13-15.

Perhaps most impressive, Marina has been climbing for less than two years.

High Altitude Fitness has a fundraiser planned for Marina on Thursday, Jan. 29. During the “Climb For Marina” event, the gym will offer $10 day passes after 5 p.m. There will also be a live DJ in the climbing gym, pizza, a raffle for gym membership and other swag.

Beer and wine will be available in the lobby.

High Altitude Fitness is also accepting donations to help fund Marina’s trip.
