Highlanders volleyball off to strong start
The Incline volleyball team ran up against some stiff competition last weekend as the girls took part in the North Tahoe Tournament.
The Highlanders played in four games on Saturday, Sept. 2, and came out with a 3-1 record. The victories improved the team’s overall record to 6-5.
The Class 2A Highlanders’ only misstep over the weekend would be a pair of losses to Class 3A South Tahoe. The teams first met up before the tournament on Thursday, Aug. 31, and South Tahoe took a 3-0 victory. The Highlanders then reeled off three straight wins over Elko, North Tahoe and North Valleys, before dropping the final game of the tournament to South Tahoe, 2-0.
Incline will now enter into the portion of their schedule that really matters with the Northern League opener set for Friday, Sept. 8 at Pershing County. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. The girls will then travel to Battle Mountain the following day for a noon league contest.
