Incline at North Tahoe softball: Highlanders run away with rival win

The North Tahoe softball team remained within striking distance of rival Incline through four innings last Wednesday. That changed in the fifth, when the Highlanders scored 19 runs en route to a 31-6 win.

For the Highlanders, Thompson helped her cause with a 4-for-5 day at the plate with a double, two triples and five RBIs. Athena Collier was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Briana Barraza had three hits, including a double and triple, and two RBIs, and Alyssa Flynn had two hits and two RBIs. Sarah Bursell added a hit and an RBI, and Damary Martinez and Samantha Contreras each had a hit.

For the Lakers, Patty Lara went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs against Incline starter Karyss Thompson, while Fabi Barajas also went 3-for-4. Crystal Soto Ramirez had two hits, and Cate Hopwood and Maria Blanco each had one hit, with Blanco driving in a run.
