Senior Devi Meyers earned tournament medalist honors to help lead the Incline girls golf team to victory in its first competition of the season at Carson Valley Golf Course last Thursday.

“I am impressed with the overall attitude of our team as the girls are showing a great desire to improve their competitive game,” said longtime Incline coach Joe Humasti. “We are a very solid team. However, as I have said before there are no favorites in a golf match as anything can happen. The girls are very confident to play well under the pressure of a competitive round.”

Meyers won with a score of 76, which is the personal best of her career. Humasti said she played well from tee to green and was consistent throughout her round.

Junior Tori Findlen finished runner-up with a score of 98. Findlen continues to improve as she also had her personal best round.

Rounding out the top three finishers was sophomore Kennedy Cohn, who also had her personal-best round of her career. Incline sophomore Christine Schwartz carded a 110, senior Brooke Ruhl 112, freshman Haley Carlson 116 and sophomore Kristina Goetz 125.

Missing from the Incline starting lineup was senior Lauren Keller, who was ill and could not compete.

The Highlanders will host a match this Thursday at Eagle Valley in Carson City.
