Incline golf | Meyers, Highlanders first at Eagle Valley

Junior Devi Meyers and the Incline girls golf team took top honors at a Northern Division III tournament at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City this past Thursday.

Meyers was the tournament medalist with an 82 on the day while fellow junior teammate Lauren Keller carded the second-lowest score along with North Tahoe’s Abbi Johnson, with a 93.

“Devi continues to play well as she is establishing herself as one of the top players in Division III this season,” said Incline coach Joe Humasti.

Among their Incline teammates, freshman Christine Schwartz shot a 107, freshman Kennedy Cohn a 109 and junior Brook Ruhl a 113 to round out the top five scores. Sophomore Tori Findlen came in at 124.

That led the Highlanders to the team win over Yerington, which was the only other school with a complete team, with a score of 391 to the Lions’ 533.

“I am very pleased with the team’s results,” Humasti said. “The girls are working very hard at improving their games. We are continuing to work on the short game to compliment their shots from tee to green. This is the first time the team has broken the score of 400 in a number of years.”
