The Incline soccer teams are scheduled to host Sparks on Saturday, girls at 10 a.m. and boys at noon.

The Incline soccer teams kicked off their 2015 campaigns with four games apiece in the Howell Memorial Tournament at Galena this past Friday and Saturday.

The girls finished with three ties and a loss. They played Elko, McQueen and Galena to 1-1 draws before falling in shootouts in each contest. They also lost 3-2 to Manogue, although Incline coach Tom Canino said the Highlanders played their best game against the Miners.

In the opening game against Elko, sophomore Maddy Wallner scored Incline’s goal on a penalty kick at the 18-minute mark.

Belle Johnson, also a sophomore, scored the Highlanders’ goal against McQueen on an assist from Wallner in the 32nd minute.

Facing Manogue — the eventual tournament champion — on Saturday, Johnson scored unassisted in the second minute, and senior Sami Lampe scored unassisted in the 24th minute. Canino said the Highlanders allowed a cheap goal in the contest.

Freshman Daniela Pinto scored in the 24th minute in Incline’s final game against Galena.

The Incline boys went 3-1 in the tournament, defeating North Valleys, 2-1, and Manogue, 4-0, before tying Sparks, 2-2, and winning in a shootout by a count of 10-9. Incline ended the tournament with a 1-0 loss to Elko.

Incline stats were not available.
