Incline track and field: Matt Colby third in 100-meter dash at Fallon

The Incline track and field team competed in a field of 32 schools at the 44th Annual Fallon Elks Invitational this past Saturday.

Senior sprinter Matt Colby led the Highlanders individually with a third-place finish in the eight-man finals of the 100-meter dash. Colby, who posted a time of 11.45 seconds, trailed only two Division I sprinters from Reed — Eric Espiritu (11.15) and Bobby Widmar (11.24).

Senior teammate Ryan Eppolito finished 10th in the 800-meter run, recording a time of 2:07.49, and was 19th in 1,600, in 4:53.99.



Incline’s Blake Perry, also a senior, placed seventh in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 8 inches.

For the Incline girls, sophomore Haley Carlson finished in a three-way tie for seventh place in the high jump, clearing 4-08, while senior Hannah Laurie was 14th in the 300 hurdles, in 54.59, and sophomore Madison Wallner placed 21st in the long jump, at 13-01.



The Highlanders are scheduled to compete in the Reed Sparks Rotary Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
