A small group of Highlanders competed against a large field that included Division I schools at the Reed Sparks Rotary Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Valeri Nix raced to a fourth-place finish among 49 athletes in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 17.49 seconds. She then placed fifth in the finals, in 17.64. Nix also placed 20th in the prelims of the 100-meter dash (13.47) and 12th in 200 prelims (28.61).

Junior teammate Kandace Dirga finished 27th in the 400-meter final with a time of 67.47. She also was 30th in the 200 prelims (29.52) and 40th in 100 prelims (14.08).

For the Incline boys, junior Matt Colby recorded a 22nd-place finish in the finals of the 400 (54.85), and was 16th in the 100 prelims (11.88) and 20th in the 200 prelims (24.31).

Incline is scheduled to compete in the Carson Invitational on Saturday, April 18.
