A total of 12 Incline track and field athletes qualified for state at the Northern Division III regional tournament in Yerington this past weekend, led by the girls’ nine individual qualifiers and third-place finish as a team.

Sophomore Valeri Nix made the state cut in four separate events — the 100-meter dash, the 200, 400 and 100-meter hurdles — which required a top-four finish. Kira Porter was second in high jump, clearing the bar at 4-08.00, and Mia Harbaugh was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 12-11.00.

Incline’s girls relay teams, meanwhile, cleaned up on state berths, with all four teams qualifying.

The girls 4×800 squad, which was made up of Homola, Jessica Hillman, Porter and Laurie, captured the regional title in a time of 11:14.06.
