As it turns out, the Yerington volleyball team is not unbeatable.
The Highlanders dealt the visiting Lions their first loss in the Northern Division III on Friday. After dropping the first set, 19-15, Incline bounced back to take the next three, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21.
Senior Kira Porter had a stellar performance for the Highlanders, finishing with 15 kills, 12 blocks, 15 digs and two service aces to earn Player of the Match honors.
Madeleine Saxe posted six kills, nine aces, six digs and two blocks, Chandler Cohn had 20 digs, Madison Cronk had five kills, four aces, five digs and a block, and Mia Bibolet had seven kills, six digs and two blocks.
Keegan Wells added 27 assists, two kills and three digs, and Ellyse Kirkland had three kills, one ace, seven digs and a block.
Senior Kassidy Lommori led the Lions with 13 kills and five blocks, and Ashley Rife had 25 assists.
Prior to Friday, the Highlanders were the only Northern Division III team to win a set against the Lions, in a 3-1 loss on Sept. 18.
Incline is now tied with North Tahoe for second place in the league standings, both with 5-2 records. Yerington, which will host the Northern Division III regional championship tournament on Nov. 7, is 8-1. The top four teams in the league qualify.
