The Incline volleyball team will battle for a state berth at the Northern Division III regional tournament in Fernley on Saturday.

The Highlanders, seeded No. 3 with a 9-3 league record, need just one win to advance to the regional title match and qualify for the state championship tournament.

But it won’t be easy, as they play second-seeded Pershing County, also 9-3, in a semifinal match at 1:45 p.m.

Incline and Pershing County split during the regular season, with the Highlanders winning in four sets at home and the Mustangs winning in four at their home. The Mustangs earned the higher seed based on the NIAA’s tiebreaker criteria.

On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Yerington (12-0) plays fourth-seeded North Tahoe (5-7) at noon.

Semifinal winners meet for the regional championship, and state seeding, in a 4 p.m. title match.

Yerington, which finished 32-2 overall, lost only one set in league play this season, courtesy of the Highlanders.
