It’s no ‘Surprise’ Truckee girls’ soccer picks up two more wins

Sierra Sun Sports Staff

The only surprise was in the name of the stadium the Tahoe-Truckee High School girls’ soccer team played at over the weekend, as it picked up two wins, one against Boulder City, and another against Pahrump.

Playing for the first time in Truckee’s Surprise Stadium, Truckee first defeated Boulder City 6-0, a game in which the opposing team took two shots on Truckee’s goal to Truckee’s 35 shots on theirs.

Becca Shook scored two goals and had two assists. She leads with 29 goals for this season.

Against Pahrump, Truckee won 16-0, calling the game out of mercy before the end of regulation play.

Shook led with four goals, while Quincy Young had three and the following players had two each: Cali Pratt, Leslie DuRoure and Megan Martin.

“They were outmatched and they knew it,” said Truckee coach Doug Roberts.

This season, undefeated Truckee has given up seven goals, only one to a league team.

Truckee has outscored opponents 86-7 in 15 games.

Truckee plays Battle Mountain tomorrow at Surprise Stadium.

On Saturday, the team takes on 8-0 Spring Creek, also at home.

“They’re undefeated,” Roberts said. “We plan on fixing that.”
