Johnny Miller checks progress on Timilick Tahoe golf course
World Golf Hall of Fame member and NBC Sports golf commentator Johnny Miller visited Timilick Tahoe this past Monday to monitor the progress of the golf course he is designing.
Developer Martis Valley Associates LLC is creating Timilick Tahoe, and the design team of Johnny Miller and John Harbottle III are the force behind creating the development’s golf course.
Following his work on the golf course, Miller addressed a crowd at a luncheon for several hundred people and sat on the golf course’s eighth fairway looking out at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Among the attendees were Timilick Club members, Timilick property owners and other families from the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities.
Miller discussed his approach in designing the Timilick golf course and answered questions from those in attendance on topics ranging from his golf course design philosophy to the current state of the professional game.
After the luncheon, Miller signed autographs and posed for pictures with attendees, including many of the children in attendance, then held an impromptu golf swing clinic. Miller amused the audience with his colorful feedback as volunteers from the crowd took their best shot at a flagstick placed on the fairway.
The course will be enjoyable for every level of player, said Miller, who commented that the natural topography of Timilick was perfect for a golf course and required very little change to the existing contours of the land.
Located in North Lake Tahoe’s Martis Valley, Timilick Tahoe is a private, gated golf community situated on 475 acres of wooded and mountain terrain adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest. The course is set to open for a sneak peek preview in September and fully open the summer of 2008.
