JV soccer ties with South Tahoe

Dan Savickas

The THS boys’ junior varsity soccer team ended its game with South Tahoe in a tie this past Thursday.

The game started out with niether team really able to get a solid possession of the ball.

Before too long, South Tahoe struck and pulled ahead in the game 1-0.

The Wolverines were putting pressure on the goal, but they were unable to put the ball in the goal. Truckee was behind, but they controled the pace of the game.

Austin Lynch struck back for the Wolverines and tied the game up with a kick to the front right hand corner of the goal.

The Truckee defense did a good job of getting players in front of the goal to help the goalie out of tight situations.

Lynch took advantage of a rebound off the goalie to find his second goal and bring the Wolverines ahead 2-1.

Scott Kelly showed good hustle on both sides of the ball for Truckee.

Before too long Lynch found his third goal for a hat trick, putting Truckee ahead 3-1.

Truckee came out of the second half aggressive and South Tahoe could do little to stop them.

But the Vikings began to ralley each other on the field. Before the Wolverines knew it they were looking at a tied game 3-3.

Truckee put out a nice defensive effort in the last 10 minutes of the game to come away with a tie.

Salomon Sachez had a great block at goalie to save the tie in the last few minutes.
