JV softball improves to 11-1 in league
The Truckee High junior varsity softball team ran its league winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of Spring Creek at Truckee River Regional Park on Saturday.
The Wolverines, who defeated the Spartans 7-6 and 10-0, improved to 11-1 in league play and 11-3 overall.
Game 1 was a close back-and-forth contest. But after Truckee took the lead in the bottom of the sixth, the Spartans couldn’t put a run across in the seventh.
Amber Davy led Truckee with three hits, including a double, Hannah Zusy had two doubles and Katelyn Gadsby had two singles.
Game 2 went much easier for the Wolverines, who secured the win after five innings via the 10-run rule. While Truckee’s offense accumulated its typical 10 runs, pitcher Hannah Zusy locked down Spring Creek, throwing a three-hit shutout with no walks and three strikeouts
Davy again led Truckee at the plate with two hits, including a triple.
The Wolverines play in Quincy on Tuesday before wrapping up their season by hosting a league doubleheader against Sparks on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
