In the pressure-filled final round of the Truckee Open Match Play event, amateur Kevin Murphy pitched it up and down from 40 yards on the 18th hole to achieve a one-up victory over his longtime friend and rival, professional golfer Bruce Towle.

This well-played match featured a different winner on each of the last five holes, which concluded when Murphy forced Towle to sink an 18-foot putt that would have sent the match into an overtime sudden-death finish.

Many of the areaand#8217;s best players participated in the open (pro or amateur) format gross match play event that took place at Tahoe Donner over the last six weeks.

Murphy celebrated in style with his Waterford crystal, a Guiness beer and a smile that shimmered across the seas to Ireland.
