The Lake Tahoe School girls basketball team recently wrapped up its best season ever.

With a record of 7-3, the girls won their division and lost in the consolation finals of the Tah-Neva League Championships.

“These young ladies have worked so hard this season,” coach Tim Kelly said. “They have competed to the best of their ability while at the same time they had so much fun.”

While Taylor Redfern led the team in scoring, she was supported by the ball handling of Emily White and the defense of eighth-graders Sarina Barata, Sydney Robinson and Madeleine Saxe.

The Bobcats cross country team, meanwhile, also enjoyed its best season to date.

The eighth-grade boys team finished second in the league championships. This was a major feat because Lake Tahoe School is one of the smallest schools in the 16-team league.

The eighth-grade boys team was made up of William Stranzl (sixth overall), Daniel Duran (eighth overall), Max Roberts, Lucas Tong, Cole Matteson and Jeffrey Miller.

Ellyse Kirkland finished fifth and Emily White finished 10th overall in the eighth-rade girls division. A total of 19 students competed for the Bobcats this year.

Said coach Kris Nugent: “I was truly blown away by the effort of all of our runners this year and on championship day our school really stepped up.”
