North Tahoe is scheduled to play at Yerington on Wednesday and host Portola next Wednesday, Oct. 21.

A midseason lull in action did not slow the North Tahoe volleyball team, which returned from a week and a half break to defeat Whittell in three sets and Pershing County in four last Thursday and Saturday.

The Lakers defeated the Warriors 25-21, 25-10, 25-22 and the Mustangs 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21 to improve to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in the Northern Division III.

Their 5-1 league mark is good for second place behind Yerington (7-0) and ahead of Incline (4-2).

Against Pershing County (4-3), Rikki Partain and Jillian Argiris smashed 11 kills apiece, while Jordan Briggs had nine kills, Sherene Clegg seven, Helana Kearns five and Jamie Dodge four kills to go along with her 38 assists.

Kearns added 21 digs, Briggs had 16 digs, Argiris 14, Clegg 13 and Partain 12. Partain, Briggs and Clegg each had a block, and Partain and Dodge each had two service aces.

In the nonleague Whittell match, Partain finished with nine kills and two aces, Briggs had seven kills and two aces, Clegg had six kills, and Argiris had four kills. Dodge tallied three aces, eight digs and 30 assists.
