Little league playoffs to start June 14

The Truckee Little League Major Division has ended one of the closest season’s in league history.

The Cubs, Giants and Angels ended tied atop the standings with 8-6 records. The Padres ended in fourth at 6-8 and the Pirates were a game behind at 5-7.

The close race is largely due to a rule change Truckee Little League made three years ago that allows every player in the league to enter the draft each year, so that no one team remains the same from one year to the next.

The top four teams now enter their inaugural Truckee Little League Major Division tournament. The Angels will play the Padres on Wednesday, June 14 and the Cubs take on the Giants on Thursday, June 15.

The two winners will play on Saturday for the rights to the Truckee Little League “-Milo Taylor Memorial ” Major Division Championship Trophy.
