Little League report: Aand#8217;s win exhibition game

Special to the Sun

League: Truckee Major Little League

Game: Angels at Aand#8217;s

Score: Aand#8217;s 14, Angels 5

Batting stars: Joe Walker and Trevor Talpas were the hitting stars for the Aand#8217;s. Joe had a triple and a double and drove in four runs and scored three himself. Trevor went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs, and also scored three runs. Max Wingard had a hit and scored four runs, while Jack Englert, Tristen Nicholas and Kyle Nicely (a double) also contributed hits.

Fielding stars: Wingard made the catch of the day, running down a hard-to-get foul ball from his position at first base. Miles Guiragossian made several fine plays at shortstop, and the Aand#8217;s, in general, played good defense. Miles, Joe and Trevor each struck out two Angels hitters in the one inning each pitched.

General: This game was the first of the Truckee Major Little League Season, following the opening-day parade. Because of the recent inclement weather in Truckee and lack of playing fields, this contest was played as an exhibition. Both teams used six or more pitchers and players played multiple positions. The regular season started Monday.
