Little League stars compete in tourney

Staff Reports

Truckee Little League’s 11-12 All-star team competed in the Nevada District 1 tournament last week at LemmonValley.

Truckee won its opener against a North Tahoe team 5-3 behind the pitching of Jimmy Williams, 16 strikeouts over 6 innings on the mound, and the timely hitting of Micah Carabajal, Kyler Smith, Paul Tierney, Jeff Hansen, Kevin Embertson, Greg Shove and Ian Casey.

Sparks Centennial proved to be too much for the locals in game two as Truckee fell 16-1. In its final tournament game, good team defense kept Truckee in the game against Sparks American. Despite strong defense from Christopher Galvin, Tierney, Branson Iten and Ben Tonon, Sparks held on for a close 3-1 win.
