Little League vs. El Nino
Though last week started with snow, the weather is finally beginning to cooperate with the Truckee Little League season, allowing teams to take dry fields.
The following are scores and highlights from Truckee Little League games reported by coaches:
Coachland RV Park Dodgers 3 – Pizza Junction Rockies 2: For the Dodgers, Shane Wright and Jesse Corby singled. Jimmy Williams had an RBI in the third. Pitcher Matt Hilton shut out the Rockies in the first two innings. Williams held them to two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Shane Wright came in for relief. Dodgers are 2-2 on the season.
Truckee CHP Giants 8 – Doc Gelso Realty 0: Jamie Maehler and Greg Shove each had two hits for the Giants. Logan Walsh and Justin Alstrand combined to pitch the shutout.
Pascual “Tito” Martinez Foundation Diamondbacks 6 – DMC Construction A’s 2: Waite – two RBI, triple. Smith – two RBI, single. Ventre – triple, RBI. Long pitched four innings in relief for 12 strikeouts. Diamondbacks are 2-2 for the season.
Longs Drug Store Yankees 17 – Weststar Rockies 8: Yankees now 3-3.
Burger King Reds 14 – Coffee And…Angels 11: Kellen Lewis was 2 for 3, with one run scored and three stolen bases. Stephen Potter scored twice, had three stolen bases and made a clutch catch on a deep drive into centerfield for the Reds. Reds record now at 2-2.
Burger King Reds 14 – Longs Drugs 4: Loren Meyer was 2-2 for the Reds, with a single and triple. Josh Iverson scored two runs.
Truckee Lions Mariners 16 – Trout Creek Landscape Supply Giants 8: For the Mariners, Kyler Coxson had four RBI, Brian Biagi two and Sean Jordan had one. Biagi pitched three innings for two strikeouts and Sean Collin pitched three strikeouts in the fourth inning.
Doc Gelso Construction Reds 12 – DMC Construction A’s 1: For the Reds, Chris Colpitts had a single, Michael Newbry, a single.
Doc Gelso Construction Reds 5 – Pascual “Tito” Martinez Foundation Diamondbacks 2: For the Reds, Cory Arth had a home run, scored once and stole second. Michael Newbry doubled, scored once on a steal and stole third. Jonathan Riley had an RBI. Pitcher Geary Jones had seven strikeouts, Jon McClain had three.
Pizza Junction Rockies 14 – Pascual “Tito” Martinez Foundation Diamondbacks 3: For the Rockies, Daniel Galvin was 3 for 3 with two triples. J.R. Murphy was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. Galvin pitched three innings for four strikeouts. Josh Furr pitched the final three innings for the save.
Pizza Junction Rockies 22 – DMC Construction A’s 5: Michael Kneeskern went 3 for 5, Kevin Waters was 2 for 3 and Chris Bosco was 2 for 4 for the Rockies. J.R. Murphy struck out eight batters in the three innings for the win. James Clauser pitched the last three innings for the save.
Weststar Rockies 8 – Burger King Reds 7: Rockies’ Mark Ochoa had a double in the top of the third. Sam Sterling pitched the win.
Coffee And…Angels 13 – Weststar Rockies 12: Angels’ Ben Tonon, three-run homer. Tonon also earned win as pitcher.
Coffee And…Angels 17 – World Travel of Tahoe Orioles 6: Grand slam by Ben Tonon in the bottom of the fourth. First-time pitcher Ryan Sutliff got the win.
Hilton Construction Mariners 19 – Lawrence Interior Group Yankees 16: Drew Blandford had one single, two doubles and six RBI for the Yankees. Nolan Mahoney was 4 for 4 with three singles, one double and an RBI.
World Travel of Tahoe Orioles 13 – Truckee Lions Mariners 8: Nick Heil, 3 for 3. Brett Davis, triple. Singles from Nick Costa, Pat Baird, Gordon Neelands and Anthony DeGeorge. Pitcher Neelands got the win.
World Travel of Tahoe Orioles 15 – Trout Creek Giants 2: Gordon Neelands of the Orioles was 2 for 4. David Ames, single. Pat Hartmann
pitched, Pat Baird came in for relief.
Kyle Adams D.D.S. A’s 8 – Longs Drugs Yankees 7: Hits from Eric Guerrero, Sam Saquella, Wade Davy, Ian Barton, Brian Kerr and Jeremy Adams. Saquella, Barton and Adams combined for five strikeouts for the A’s. Kyle Adams came in as relief pitcher, striking out seven of eight Yankees.
Kyle Adams D.D.S. A’s 16 – Trout Creek Landscape Giants 4: Jeremy Adams had two hits for the A’s, both doubles, and 2 RBI. Ian Barton, Tony Duran and Brian Kerr each had two hits. Barton pitched two innings with four strikeouts. With the win, the A’s moved to 4-0 for the season.
Hilton Construction Mariners 18 – Truckee Optimist Club Giants 17: Casey Thelin was 4 for 5 with 5 RBI for the winners. Matthew Kulak, four hits and two RBI. Bennett Carlson and Chris Botto pitched the win.
Brent P. Colinson Orioles 16 – Truckee Pines Apartments Reds 1: Oriole Jackson Callaghan, two RBI.
