Local skiers get caught in a ‘Storm’

Winter never begins without a storm and this year it certainly will begin with Warren Miller’s Storm. The swirling storm clouds and driving blizzard footage of the film’s opening moments are just a precursor to the torrent of action that sets the tone for the film. The action begins with a relentless assault of big air, big wrecks, sweeping cinematography, edgy action, and sidesplitting laughs that are the essence of the entire film packed into just a few minutes of the opening montage. Warren Miller’s Storm takes you to the heart of the action: that core of danger, passion, and sheer joy that is the dream world of every skier and snowboarder. From backcountry expeditions across multiple continents to hometown terrain parks, this year’s film captures the essence of winter sports’ best action.

Truckee and Tahoe City locals, Jen Berg and Jessica Sobolowski will host us in Alaska where they devour the expansive terrain and bag five first descents. Jeff McKittrerick, an Olympic Valley local, gets put in line as he joins the U.S. Marines in the high sierras for some remarkably tough high mountain ski training with Americas’ finest.

The North Shore premier is presented by Tahoe Dave’s and Sugar Bowl and will be at the Cal Neva Resort on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
