Mixed results for boys’ soccer team

Dan Savickas

The Truckee High School boys’ varsity soccer team started out the week with a loss to Carson High School on Monday, but managed to come back on Tuesday to beat Whittell High School.

Coach Rob Curtis described Monday’s 3-2 loss to 4A Carson as “Not one of our better efforts.”

“We never really got clicking,” Curtis said.

Scott Eberhardt had both of Truckee’s goals with an assist on one by Jeremy Adams.

“Scott’s a hard runner and a constant threat,” Curtis said.

“A 3-2 loss to a tougher school is more valuable than a big win over a weaker team,” Curtis said. “I think all the 3A teams are benefiting by stepping up and adding 4A teams to their schedules.”

On Tuesday Curtis said the team “came around,” in its 5-0 win over Whittell.

“We played well, we passed well. All of my younger players really played well,” Curtis said.

In the game Ramiro Aguilar, Jeremy Adams, Scott Eberhardt, Remy Denton, Chris Pearson and Kevin Flynn each had one goal. Curtis named Kyle Adams as one of the main strengths of the Wolverine defense.

The Wolverines play their fourth game in six days on Saturday against Lowry.

“If we can end the week with a couple of wins that’d be great,” Curtis said.
