Nordic racing | Beth, Joanne Reid win Sierra Nordic Duathlon
In windy and wet conditions Sunday at Tahoe Donner Cross Country, 30 gritty skiers weathered the storm to compete in the annual Sierra Nordic Duathlon.
The mother-daughter tandem of Beth and Joanne Reid of Palo Alto raced to the overall win in unison, as they crossed the finish line holding hands in a time of 33 minutes and 44 seconds.
Alex Hamilton was the next to finish, posing a time of 33:51, followed by Tav Streit in 34:00 and Rick Reynolds in 34:02. Julie Young was the next woman to finish, placing 16th overall with a time of 39:30.
The course included two 5-kilometer laps, with racers switching from classic skis to skate skis between laps.
