Nordic racing | Meng, Reid win President’s Cup

A total of 87 Nordic skiers participated in the President’s Cup race at Auburn Ski Club on Monday.

Racing in fresh snow conditions, Far West Nordic juniors and their coaches swept the men’s 11.5-kilometer race, with Austin Meng winning the overall with a time of 28:33.7.

Meng was followed by Jordan McElroy, who finished in 28:40.7, and August Teague, who came in at 28:51.3.



In the women’s race, Beth Reid took first (11th overall) in 31:38.4, while Kari Rust followed in second, at 32:47.1, and Susan Reynolds was third in 35:02.0.

Jeff Schloss placed fourth overall in 30:01.3 and was trailed by Rick Reynolds, Peter Hanson, Joe Denger, Phillip Violett, Gus Johnson and Jakub Benes rounding out the top 10.



Brandon Flora placed first and Skyler Flora second (first among girls) in the 5-kilometer race, and Haydn Halvorsen and Keelin Davis were the winners of the 3-kilometer race.

UP NEXT: The Sierra Nordic Relays at Tahoe Donner Cross Country are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 27 starting at 10 a.m. Cost is $18 per person, or $9 for juniors.
