The North Tahoe baseball team is off to a fine start, as the Lakers swept their league-opening doubleheader in shutout fashion against visiting West Wendover on Saturday, 3-0 and 10-0, to improve to 4-1 overall.

Junior Mitchell Myers and senior Shane Christian combined to hold the Wolverines scoreless in Game 1. Myers started and allowed three hits in four innings, while Christian gave up one hit in three innings of relief. Both finished with six strikeouts.

The Lakers went hitless the first two innings against West Wendover starter Logan Gregory.

Freshman Trent Lingruen ignited the North Tahoe offense with a two-run rally in the third inning, and the Lakers padded their lead with a run in the sixth.

Senior Wildon DesLauriers started on the mound and went the distance in Game 2, which was called after five innings on the 10-run mercy rule. DesLauriers surrendered only three hits while striking out 11 and walking one in a dominant performance.

His offense gave him more than enough support. The Lakers put six runs on the board in the first inning and added two in the second and two more in the third.

Myers led the way with three doubles and Christian had a triple. Seniors Alex Bourriague and Alex Tyler each stole a base, while junior Miles Johansen played a solid defensive game at first, digging several balls out of the dirt.

North Tahoe is scheduled to play a league doubleheader at White Pine on Saturday.
