North Tahoe basketball | Lakers drop home games against Portola

The North Tahoe boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both dropped nonleague games at home against Portola on Tuesday, the girls by a score of 56-46 and the boys by a score of 45-41.

No information was available from the girls’ game.

In the boys’ contest, North Tahoe led 10-4 after the first quarter before the Tigers scored 14 to the Lakers’ 10 in the second quarter to pull to within two points, at 20-18, at the half.

Portola came out of the break firing, outscoring North Tahoe 16-4 in the third quarter to take a 34-24 lead entering the final period. The Lakers battled back, scoring 17 points while holding the Tigers to 11, but it wasn’t enough as Portola escaped with the win.

Flint Fambrough and Mario Montemayor scored 10 points apiece to lead the Tigers, while Billy Broad grabbed 11 rebounds.

North Tahoe’s stats were not available.

The Laker boys fell to 3-4 overall on the season; the Laker girls are now 2-4.
