North Tahoe basketball | Lakers drop Mount Rose League games to Vikings
The North Tahoe boys and girls basketball teams dropped Mount Rose League games to visiting South Tahoe on Tuesday, the girls by a score of 51-25 and the boys 70-47.
The South Tahoe girls used a balanced scoring effort and solid defense to extend their win streak to four straight games. Nine of their 10 players scored on the night, with Brooke King leading the way with 12 points as the Vikings built a 27-10 lead by the half.
North Tahoe fell to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in Mount Rose League play with the loss, while South Tahoe improved to 6-9 overall and 1-0 in league.
North Tahoe’s boys got off to a slow start, falling behind 15-8 by the end of the first quarter and 29-15 by halftime. The Lakers battled back with a strong third quarter, but the larger Vikings were too far ahead to catch.
Junior point guard Alex Tyler scored a game-high 18 points for the Lakers, while Colin Spencer contributed 10 points. North Tahoe head coach Frank Wright also complimented the play of junior guard Noah McDermott, who played “an absolutely stellar game,” he said, particularly on the defensive end.
John Cefalu, who knocked down four 3-pointers, led South Tahoe with 14 points.
The Laker boys are now 7-9 overall and 1-2 in Mount Rose League play. South Tahoe is 7-8 overall and 1-0 in league.
UP NEXT: North Tahoe is scheduled to play at Incline on Saturday and host Sparks on Tuesday.
