North Tahoe boys go 1-2 in Dayton tournament

North Tahoe’s boys basketball team had a rough weekend at Dayton’s Sutro Classic tournament.

After a 60-23 loss to rival Truckee on Thursday, the Lakers bounced back in the next game of the tourney for a 53-40 victory over Lone Pine that head coach David Hansen described as a confidence builder.

Senior Michael Forte posted 28 points in the game and junior Brent Marple put up 11.

The Lakers third and final game of the tournament was against what Hansen called a very good Bishop team.

Despite dropping the game 66-48, Hansen said it was the best he’d seen his team play so far this season.

Forte had 20 points in the game and Marple had 10.

Hansen said the tournament was very well run and that most of the teams there were still struggling to find out who they were so early in the season.

Hansen said that Dayton looks to be the class of the league, and Truckee also looked strong.
