North Tahoe cross-country: Lakers dominate at Fernley Roadhill Invitational
Truckee will race at the Reed Invitational in Sparks on Friday.
North Tahoe’s girls and boys cross-country teams won their respective varsity races at the Fernley Roadhill Invitational last Thursday.
The girls topped a field of four teams, recording a low score of 25 points to runner-up Fernley’s 54. The boys beat out nine schools with a team score of 34 to second-place Dayton’s 75.
Running on a 5K course, North Tahoe’s girls swept the top three spots individually and placed all five of their scoring runners among the top 11. There were 55 girls in the race.
Freshmen Elan Lindsey and Sophia Sanchez finished 1-2 with times of 22:53 and 23:01, respectively, and junior Quinn Lehmkuhl was third in 23:03.
They were followed by seniors Kaya Williams (24:52) and Sophia Tallarigo (25:23) in ninth and 11th.
The North Tahoe boys placed four runners in the top 10 and all five scorers among the top 17 in a field of 108 runners.
Seniors Andrew Morgan (19:38) and Julien Bordes (19:39), sophomore JC Schoonmaker (19:39) and senior Cam Goldstone (19:39) ran in a pack and finished fourth through seventh, while senior Jackson Shaw was 17th (20:39).
Trevor Martin, a senior from Silver Stage, claimed the win in 18:06.
