The North Tahoe cross-country team is gearing up to host its long-running home meet, the North Tahoe Kiwanis Invitational, on Friday.

The annual meet features hundreds of runners and schools from across Northern California and Nevada, including local rivals Incline, Whittell and Truckee. It includes race divisions from middle school through high school varsity.

The Lakers enter with wins already on their record. They kicked off their season last Friday at the Whittell Invitational, where they won both the boys and girls team events, led by Tara Gallant and Julien Bordes. Kaya Williams and Quinn Lehmkuhl also earned medals for North Tahoe.

See next week’s Sports & Outdoors for results.
