North Tahoe football loses season opener

Staff reports

The North Tahoe football team dropped its season opener 38-6 to Faith Lutheran in Las Vegas on Friday.

The game marked the first for the Lakers since leaving the Northern 3A to play as an independent after last year.

North Tahoe helped the Faith Lutheran cause with three turnovers, seven penalties and a botched punt snap that set up a Crusader touchdown.

The Lakers got on the board with three seconds remaining in the game when quarterback Ryan Blount hooked up with receiver Joe Erman in the end zone.

Next up on the Lakers’ schedule is at Lovelock this Friday. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.

See Tuesday’s Sierra Sun for more details on the North Tahoe-Faith Lutheran game.
