North Tahoe golf | Improving Lakers post season-best result

The North Tahoe golf team finished second in a league tournament at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City this past Thursday.

The Lakers posted a team score of 474 — their best score of the season — while Incline claimed the win with a 443. Sierra Lutheran was third at 490 and was followed by Yerington (524), Sage Ridge (548) and Hawthorne (580).

Freshman Quinn Earley led the Lakers individually, as he fired a 76 for a third-place finish. Incline’s Mitchell Cornell earned tournament medalist honors with a 4-under-par 68, and Griffin Cooper of Yerington was second with a 2-under-par 70.

Connor Hipsley posted North Tahoe’s second-lowest score, with a 94, while Jake Inclan carded a 99, Jack Lemke 102, Colton Nordby 103 and Kylie Daniels 108.

North Tahoe coach Steve Munro was impressed with his squad’s performance and said the Lakers continue to improve every week.

The next league tournament is Thursday in Fernley. The Northern Division III regional championships are scheduled for May 6 at Elko’s Ruby View Golf Course. State will be held at the Incline Village Championship Course on May 11-12.
