The Laker golf team placed third in an all-2A tournament held at Dayton Valley Golf and Country Club this past Thursday.

Incline led the team competition, posting a combined score of 431, while Whittell finished second at 449 and North Tahoe third at 461. Hawthorne scored a 492.

The North Tahoe team, which hosted the tournament, drove over Spooner Summit in blizzard conditions before competing in wind and rain at Dayton, where the temperature hovered around 38 degrees. The Lakers brought 10 golfers, and were led by senior Alec Griffith’s 80.

Craig Munro shot an 87 for North Tahoe, while Buster Fenley posted a 95, Eliot Headley a 97 and Connor Whaley a 103. Travis Boerner used up all 10 of his balls playing on the challenging Arnold Palmer-designed course, which has water on almost every hole, and thus was disqualified. Trevor Semmons shot a 45 on the nine holes he was able to finish.

North Tahoe head coach Dick Tomlinson said he was encouraged by the play of the Lakers’ freshman, as Fenley’s 95 in the wintry conditions and#8220;was impressive.and#8221;
