North Tahoe golf: Lakers win league match at Dayton

North Tahoe’s boys golf team continued its successful season with a first-place finish in a Division III match at Dayton Valley Golf Course last Wednesday.

All five scoring players for the Lakers carded scores under 100, with Isaac Mozen leading the way with an 88. Connor Hipsley shot a 91, Jake Inclan 92, Quinn Earley 93, Murphy Scott 98 and Colton Norby 102.

That gave the Lakers, who hosted the match, the team victory with a score of 462. Whittell placed second with a 471 and was followed by Yerington (489), Sierra Lutheran (540) and Sage Ridge (581). Incline and Hawthorne did not record team scores.

Griffin Cooper of Yerington earned medalist honors with a 75, while Whittell’s Colin Buchholz and Matt Davis finished second and third, respectively, with scores of 84 and 87.

“Our team is playing very consistent every week and getting better at each tournament,” North Tahoe coach Steve Munro said. “I’m very excited for the team with the state qualifier coming up.”

The DIII state qualifier is scheduled for May 11 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course at Stateline.
