North Tahoe golf: Murphy Scott leads Lakers at Eagle Valley

Competing without a handful of its top players, the North Tahoe boys golf team finished fourth in a Division III-IV tournament at Eagle Valley Golf Club in Carson City this past Thursday.

Murphy Scott led the Lakers with a fifth-place finish individually, carding an 83, while teammate Isaac Mozen shot a 90, Hector Vera 114, Dominic Hatch 118, and Ben Hopwood and Shayn Hawley 120.

The Lakers posted a team score of 525.

Incline won the tournament with a low team score of 423 and was followed by Whittell (456) and Sierra Lutheran (501) in the top three. Hawthorne was fifth (542), while Sage Ridge and Yerington did not have enough golfers to record a team score.

Griffin Cooper of Yerington earned tournament medalist honors with a 71, and Incline’s Mitchell Cornell (72) and Bryan Golombik (73) were second and third, respectively.

North Tahoe will compete in another league tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course at Stateline this Thursday.
