North Tahoe High snowboard team to hold meeting

Staff reports

North Tahoe High School’s defending state champion snowboarding team will be holding an informative preseason meeting and sign-up session on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the high school.

Last year the Laker squad competed in California ” as opposed to other North Tahoe teams that compete in Nevada ” and won the Mammoth finals, where North Tahoe beat out teams from schools five times its size.

Parent organizers of the snowboard team will hold the meeting for interested athletes and parents to learn more about the upcoming season, ask questions and meet head coach Mort Nyberg.

Athletes will also be able to register for the team at that time.

Nyberg urges all interested North Tahoe students to consider joining the team, regardless of snowboarding ability or experience.

Nyberg has coached the Squaw Valley snowboard team since 1997, and is a 1983 graduate of North Tahoe. Nyberg has competed in both Nationals and the World Cup as a snowboarder.
