North Tahoe prep roundup: Lakers girls soccer sinks Sparks, Incline

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Maile Markham made an imprint on the pitch early and often, scoring three goals to lead the North Tahoe girls soccer team to a 5-1 win over Sparks in 3A Northern League action Friday at Sparks High School.

The Lakers also got a boost from goals by Piper Joubert and AJ Hurt.

Last Tuesday, Markham was at the forefront, burying two goals to help North Tahoe edge rival Incline, 3-2, in Tahoe City.

Aliza Neu also found the back of the net for the Lakers.

North Tahoe (9-7-2, 7-5-2) hosts Truckee at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Boys soccer: Lakers fall to Railroaders, top Highlanders

The North Tahoe boys soccer team never found its footing in a 2-0 league loss to Sparks on Friday in Tahoe City.

Last Tuesday, the Lakers netted two unanswered second-half goals to push past Incline 2-1 at home.

North Tahoe (10-3-5, 9-1-4) plays at South Tahoe at noon Thursday.

Volleyball: North Tahoe swept by Yerington

The North Tahoe volleyball team struggled in a 3-0 loss (25-11, 25-8, 25-23) to Yerington on Friday at Yerington High School.

On Wednesday, the Lakers took down Silver Stage 3-1 at North Tahoe High School.

North Tahoe (2-14, 0-9) hosts rival Incline at 6 p.m. Thursday.
