North Tahoe soccer | Boys, girls shut out by Warriors

The North Tahoe boys and girls soccer teams have yet to solve Whittell this season.

Both squads lost by 4-0 scores in Division III games in Zephyr Cove on Tuesday — their second of the year to the Warriors.

North Tahoe boys coach Beto Alcaraz called the recent loss a wake-up call just in time for the postseason, as the Lakers (6-2-2 league) have only two more regular-season games.

“It was a tough loss, but I hope this loss is a ‘good’ loss and that we learn from it,” Alcaraz said. “I believe our team has the character to bounce back from this loss and move on to play the next game.”

Both of the Lakers’ league losses have come against Whittell, which won the first meeting 3-2 on Dollar Hill. The Lakers tied White Pine and Incline.

North Tahoe girls coach Kristin Carlson said she was happy with how her girls played — they “played well and seemed to have grasped some concepts I had been stressing all season,” she said, adding that Francesca English, Julia Semmens, Bryn Anderson, Emily Pieper, who just returned from an injury, Kasey Foster and Kami Abi-Nader all played well.

The Warriors (12-1) are hot, as they defeated South Tahoe 2-1 last week and took over first place in the Northern Division III standings with a 4-1 win at Incline (11-1-1) on Wednesday. They’ve won nine straight.

North Tahoe is scheduled to host Yerington on Friday and end the regular season at Incline on Tuesday.
