— Top 4 advance

Both North Tahoe soccer teams defeated visiting Yerington in dominant fashion on senior farewell Friday, the girls by a score of 10-0 and the boys 9-0.

In the shortened girls game, due to the score, the Lakers received a hat trick (three goals) from junior Francesca English, who was sent off as a senior as she plans to graduate a year early.

Seniors Kami Abi-Nader, Emily Pieper, Angela Wood and Zoe Anderson, junior Julia Semmens, and sophomores Bryn Anderson and Allison Wright contributed a goal apiece.

North Tahoe coach Kristin Carlson said she played all the seniors most of the game. Bozhie Pokorny, North Tahoe’s only other senior, did not play due to an injury.

“We will definitely miss the seniors’ leadership and skill next year,” Carlson said.

With the win the Lakers improved to 9-3-1 in Northern Division III play, which is third place behind Whittell (12-1-0) and Incline (11-1-1). The top four teams advance to the regional tournament.

In the boys game, senior forward Jose Chavez scored three goals to lead the way. Adrian Ortega scored goals, and Chase Whitney, Lucas Earley, Alex Tyler and Harrison Goss each contributed one goal.

The Lakers have a total of seven seniors — Chavez, Tyler, Ortega, Wildon DesLauriers, Omar Vargas, Garret Driller and Alexis Herrera.

North Tahoe improved to 7-2-2 in league play, which, like the girls, is third behind Incline (9-0-2) and Whittell (8-3-0).

The Northern Division III regional tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, at Incline.
