North Tahoe soccer: Lakers win league games at Lions

The Lakers are preparing for league games against visiting rival Incline on Friday. Girls start at 4 p.m. and boys at 6.

North Tahoe’s girls and boys soccer teams won league games at Yerington this past Friday — the girls by a score of 9-0 and the boys 4-3.

Senior forward Bryn Anderson scored three goals and dished out two assists to lead the way. Freshman AJ Hurt added two goals and two assists, Lindsey Twomey had a goal and an assist, and Maddie Cleeland, Valencia Covell and Piper Joubert scored a goal apiece.

The Lakers then defeated Chester 8-0 in a nonleague game Saturday in which six different players contributed a goal — Anderson, Hurt, Covell, Cleeland, Joubert and Emma DesLauriers. Twomey had two goals. The Lakers then dropped a nonleague game against visiting Truckee, 5-2, on Monday. Anderson had both goals in the game.

The girls are now 5-0-1 in Northern Division III play, with the one tie coming against Pershing County.

North Tahoe’s boys are 4-1 in league play after defeating the Lions. Nolan Spencer scored two goals in that game, while Omar Cerda and Harrison Goss scored one apiece.

Cerda scored the only goal for the North Tahoe boys in a 6-1 loss to Truckee on Monday.
