North Tahoe soccer takes down Douglas

The North Tahoe boys soccer team took a step toward proving that it deserves that 2006 Nevada 3A state championship trophy displayed within its campus halls.

The Lakers hosted 4A Douglas on Tuesday, and at the end of the fast-paced and competitive game, the defending 3A champs came out on top, 2-1.

Laker goals came from Ricardo Cervantes ” who scored on a penalty kick in the first half that stemmed from a nice run by Eric Holman, who wound up fouled within the area ” and Gerry Bolanos, who scored on a breakaway from a through-ball from David Munoz.

North Tahoe travels to Sacramento tomorrow for the Del Campo Tournament. The Lakers were invited to the prestigious, two-day tournament after winning the state championship last fall.
