The Laker softball team lost a pair of league games at perennial power Battle Mountain this past Saturday, 14-3 and 12-1.

Junior Mealani Mesa pitched both games, recording three strikeouts in the first contest and six in the next.

North Tahoe head coach Richard Mesa said the Lakers showed signs of progress defensively, highlighted by a couple of solid plays in the outfield by freshman Sierra Aildasani and sophomore Shelby Crawford.

The Lakers had three hits in Game 1 as sophomore Samantha Jeffers led the way with a 1-for-3 day with a double, and Heidi Jimenez and Tara Turpin each had one hit.

In Game 2, Mahiti Thom went 1 for 2 with a double, Mesa was 1 for 3 with a double, and Turpin and Crawford each were 1 for 2.

Tannyr Pasvantis finished 3 for 4 in a doubleheader at Pershing County the previous weekend, while Jimenez was 2 for 3 in the first game and Meghen Grijalva 1 for 2.
