North Tahoe track and field | Lakers jump into season at Sparks meet

The Lakers are scheduled to compete in the Yerington Relays on Saturday, March 21.

The North Tahoe track and field team opened the season with a small group competing in an informal conference meet at Sparks on March 7.

Many of the squad’s top members did not make the trip as they were preparing for the USSA Cross Country Skiing Junior National Championships at Auburn Ski Club.

Among the Laker boys, Nathan Lutz recorded a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash and a third-place finish in the 200.

Alexander Steele placed seventh in the 200 and fifth in the 400. Jacob Buhler was 18th in the 400, and the 4×400 relay team placed third.

Nick Joslin won the discus with a toss of 111 feet, 4 inches, while Buhler placed 12th in the shot put and Joslin was 14th. Joslin and Max Burkhardt were ninth and 10th, respectively, in the high jump.

Burkhardt, meanwhile, won the long jump with a leap of 17-7.5.

Five North Tahoe girls competed.

Jordan Briggs won the shot put with a heave of 33-8 as well as the discus with a throw of 106-3.

Allie Doyle was sixth in the 100, Maddie Cleeland placed seventh in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles, Sarah Trimm was second in the discus, and Allie Doyle was third in the high jump.
