North Tahoe, Truckee golfers finish middle of pack

The Truckee High golf team placed fourth and North Tahoe sixth in the Sparks Tournament this past Wednesday.

Lowry took the top spot with a team score of 428. Fernley was second (429), Incline third (433), Spring Creek fifth (449), Dayton seventh (485) and Yerington eighth (522). Truckee posted a team score of 436 and North Tahoe 480, respectively.

After three tournaments, Lowry is atop the Northern 3A league standings with 24 points. Fernley is second (23), Truckee third (21), Incline fourth (19) and Spring Creek fifth (18).

Truckee’s Pat Galvin and Kevin Barchas each shot a team-low 83, while Danny Kruck shot 87, Bryce poulin 90, Matt Hardy 93 and Gavin Novotny 102.

“We still have a lot of work to do,” said Truckee head coach Jeff Froelich. “We’re trying to find that magic combination of guys to see what works the best and to get guys to shoot reasonably close to their averages in practice during events.

“The kids have to work on their consistency, and I think that will happen with more practice.”
