North Tahoe volleyball | Lakers split against Mustangs, Longhorns

The North Tahoe volleyball team is off to a 1-1 start in Division III play after splitting a pair of league matches at home this past Friday and Saturday.

After falling in three games to Pershing County, 21-25, 15-25, 24-26, the Lakers bounced back to defeat Battle Mountain in four games, 25-11, 23-25, 25-13, 25-12.

Junior Jordan Briggs powered the Lakers to victory against the Longhorns (0-5 overall, 0-2 league), tallying nine kills, three blocks and 13 digs, while junior Rikki Partain finished with seven kills, and Sherene Clegg had five kills and three blocks.



Helena Kearns recorded six service aces and 17 service points, Jacki Partain had 15 digs and three kills, Jamie Dodge had four kills and 13 assists, and Tilley Gibeaut had 13 assists.

Against Pershing County (9-8 overall, 1-1 league), Briggs posted seven kills, three blocks and nine digs, Clegg had six blocks, Kearns had four digs and two aces, Dodge had nine assists, and Rikki and Jacki Partain each had three kills.



The Lakers (2-3-1 overall) are scheduled to host Silver Stage on Tuesday at 5 p.m., West Wendover on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Incline on Sept. 25 at 5 p.m.
